Christian was born in Edmonton Alberta but grew up in Langley B.C. After having surgery to fix a club foot, he was off and running in athletics. Growing up with a Dad who is a hockey and sports fanatic, Christian tried all types of sports though fell in love with hockey. From age 7-18 he played goalie for the Langley Minor Hockey Association. At age 19 he was affiliated with the Mission City Outlaws Junior B hockey club and played through pre-season with the team, realizing his path was not meant for Junior hockey, but University.

From 2013-2018, Christian attended the University of the Fraser Valley, majoring in Kinesiology in hopes of becoming a physiotherapist. During this time, he also worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the Township of Langley and eventually moved into an Aquatic Supervisor Role. After volunteering in physiotherapy clinics, and working with youth in the water, Christian decided he didn’t want to pursue physio and found he had a natural liking to teaching. He realized that he’d rather teach youth to move properly and move for life when they are young, rather than try and fix them when they are needing therapy. From here he completed his Kinesiology degree, but focussed on physical education and pedagogy. He attended UBC to become a teacher, majoring in Physical and Health Education and is currently a teacher in the Langley School District.

After hockey, Christian’s competitive nature took him to the gym where he learned about weight training, bodybuilding and powerlifting. Bodybuilding caught his eye and he set his sites on competing. At age 19, he placed 8th out of 30 in a local Men’s Physique Contest. At age 21, he won his class in a Junior Bodybuilding show in Prince George BC. Learning about nutrition and nutritional supplements, and applying his degree through this process, Christian was able to step on stage at 4% body fat.

Realizing that a future in bodybuilding was not in cards, Christian needed a new competitive outlet. After watching the “Fittest on Earth” Documentaries, Christian was hooked on CrossFit. After being self-taught for a year, he decided to take his training and desire to teach to the next level. He was hired to Hybrid Athletics in September 2019 and took his CrossFit Level 1 Certification. Since this time, he has honed his coaching and movement skills and has a goal to share his knowledge with others.
